OK, I have successfully committed to having at least one piece of art a week to publish to my Tumblr 'Blog, known as wyldspace.tumblr.com/ , so despite all the other commitments for the year I will at least have that much to share.

One of the goals (aside from the obvious one: Share my old and new art with more interested folks out on the internet and show how easy it is to get into the arts nowadays.) is to try to get some regular traffic of people checking out the blog so that I can add an advertisement and find out how many pennies a month you actually get from "monetization" of a 'blog.  In researching it, I read two people claiming to have a 6-figure salary from the advertisements on their 'blogs, but I don't believe it. (Or rather I think they were greatly exaggerating to get more people to jump on their bandwagon.)  Anyway, I'll post to my journal when I get enough readers to put up the add and what the profits have appeared from advertisers a year later.

But for now, I want to make it clear that I have not sold out to the commercial industry...

... Anyway, right about now, I'd like to have a Pot-Noodle®!  Doesn't that look positively scrumshous?

I found tumblr just like Wordpress will let you pre-post for a later time.  I think it is good for anyone running a blog to commit to posting on a regular schedule.  In my case I will post once a week whenever I get the chance and have it officially publish every Friday.  I think it will avoid burnout and keep me motivated. My first old art piece will publish tomorrow on my tumblr blog and my WordPress blog in the category of "Art without Stories".

I'm going to post old art any Friday when I don't have a new picture and story chapter to post.  I did have a wonderful idea I am fleshing out now for a sufficiently advanced technology that appears to be magic at first, and then I explain how our world gradually evolved (and was intelligently designed) into the seemingly magical world as technology advanced.  I hope you will like it.  I'm almost finished with the outline, but it will take me all 2013 to write and illustrate and publish it.

Also, I'm working on an idea to encrypt an image (particularly a NSFW image, Not Safe For Work) so that any web browser will decode it automatically for adults only who wish to see it and there will be no chance of a minor searching it up accidentally.  I'm sure a lot of people more savvy than me have already tackled this issue and they can probably decode it, but at least I plan to make some reasonable effort to keep mature content behind a clearly labeled metaphorical curtain where only interested adults can see it.  I'll let y'all know how I fare.

I went to StatCounter.com and remembered (by looking in my phone) that I already had a StatCounter account (and password) from when I added a hit counter to my WordPress blog.  I added another project to Statcounter and got a new snippit of code especially for Tumblr blogs (automatically, Nice.) and I added it to my Tumblr template.

I had to figure out how to get around the Tumblr Customize error.
I pulled up my Tumblr blog; it recognized that I was the owner, so it gave me a Customize button; I clicked it.  Underneath the blank picture that said "Custom Theme" I clicked on Edit HTML and it opened an empty window.

This is the Tumblr Edit-HTML-broken issue.  It does not always pull the text of your template.  I installed a new free theme from the theme garden and hit "Edit HTML" again.  It does correctly pull the text of a theme from the theme garden, so I have to keep a copy on my computer of the text that shows up, and I can add the snippit of hit counter code anywhere I want it to appear.  Then whenever the "Edit HTML" button presents me with a blank page, I can copy&paste my backup into the window and save it.  So, now I have a hit counter on my Tumblr blog and a backup of my customized theme.

Posted my new blog header image to my new Tumblr blog.

By the way, I found I have two locations for the blog which look different.  Everybody gets these when you start a new blog on Tumblr.

wyldspace.tumblr.com/
www.tumblr.com/blogs/wyldspace…

First I posted the new header image I made on my Tumblr blog.

Then I went to my wordpress blog (which is hosted by the extraordinarily prolific and creative C.B.Ash, as seen at brassgriffin.com/ ), and I Design>Edit Theme> edited the Stylesheet.css, not the Header.  The header section of the stylesheet identified a background image for the header.  I changed it to the URL address for the full size pic on my Tumblr blog.  I had to resize it to match the expected size.  (Why don't WordPress themes resize to match the window size?  They do so many more complicated things than that.  It wouldn't be any more difficult than the incredible feats of coding I see all over.)

I've researched what I can do to accomplish my goal to retire in five years with a secure income.  And I want to publish art and stories as a retirement job where I can do some light work at something I love no matter how decrepit I might get and earn a little variation in my otherwise fixed income.

So here's my new plan:  I'm going to refurbish my Wyldspace blog to be more polished, and (I hope) entertaining to others, not just myself.  I'm going to start a Tumblr blog to showcase the improvements I make.  I hope to update it with a new picture each week.  The Tumblr blog will also link each new picture to the story on my WordPress site and to Deviant Art in case anyone might want to buy a print.
